The Gardner Edgerton Blazers’ baseball team traveled to Olathe Thursday and defeated Olathe Northwest 3-2.
The Blazers’ pitchers allowed just seven hits to Olathe Northwest.
The Blazers opened up scoring in the first inning, when Dylan Butash grounded out, scoring one run. They were then able to execute a squeeze play and a sacrifice fly to put two more runs on the board.
Butash led Gardner Edgerton to victory on the mound, allowing six hits and two runs over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one. Logan Groh and Andrew McCarthy entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Groh recorded the last three outs to earn the save.
Gardner Edgerton collected six hits on the day. Baylor Vesey and Groh all managed two hits.
