Blazer boys, girls capture top performances at home track meet

Individual performances by the Gardner Edgerton Blazers boys and girls track teams took the gold in three categories at the April 28 home invitational.

The Blazer boys featured two individual and a team champion: Trot Wood in the 100-meter (10.99), Parker Walion in the 800-meter (1:56.13) and a champion 4×100-meter relay team of Padilla, Shoemaker, Linden and Wood.

The Blazer girls featured one event champion in freshman Hayden Meats, who again won the triple jump in a loaded field on her fourth and final jump of 36-2 3/4.

Other top performances came in the boys’ discus where all three Blazers, Thomas Savasten, Spencer Easley and Remy Carpenter, all had personal best throws and brought in 13 points. The top performance of the evening came from junior standout Dawson Kindler, who launched the javelin 190-4, just barely missing the win by an inch. Still, the toss ranked him in the top-4 boys’ javelin athletes in Blazers’ program history.
