The northwest corner of West 199th and Homestead Lane will soon be developed by Whimsy Trucking.

The City of Edgerton approved the rezoning of 39.81 acres of rural land with the western 20.55 acres for logistics park and the eastern 19.26 acres for future commercial use.

Zach Moore, development services director, said the land was bisected by a creek, the west side will be for industrial use and the east side will be for restaurants and retail centers.

He said the Logistics Park side of the property rezoning allows for 35 different uses that range from distribution warehouses to container storage that would require conditional use permits that are still in review. The east commercial side can house 70 different sites.

“That is the intended use for the site,” Moore said.

The planning commission recommended the rezoning request after the April 11 public hearing.

Residents expressed concerns about traffic safety at the intersection and requested a traffic study.

Moore said the traffic study will be completed for the final site plan application. It will also have a public hearing before approval.
