The final development plan for a new airplane hangar at New Century Airport was unanimously approved at Thursday’s Johnson County Commission meeting.

The 22,500 square -foot hangar will be located on the west side of West 159th Street and North Loop Road next to an existing taxiway, parking lot and driveway.

Diane Wicklund, a principal planner with Johnson County, said there were no landscape proposals tied to the project and no public comments at the zoning board’s recent public hearing.

Johnson County 3rd District Commissioner Charlotte O’Hara questioned whether the hangar was one of the projects coming before the board still awaiting federal approval. County officials told her no.

“All is in good order,” Johnson County 6th District Commissioner Shirley Allenbrand told the board.

Commissioners voted 7-0, approving the proposed design.
