Edgerton prepares for 2023 Frontier Days

City prepares by issuing permits, announcing street closures

Frontier Days will be here again in June, and the City of Edgerton passed temporary road closures, noise ordinance suspensions and use of public spaces resolutions in preparation for the annual celebration.

The event will be June 16-17. Frontier Days has brought Edgerton together since 1971.The public festival will have a carnival, crafts, food, music and a parade.

The city will be using the new downtown Greenspace, city offices, City Hall and city- owned property at 312 E. Martin St. and portions of East Nelson and East Fourth streets

Other preparations: city permit fees related to the festival will be waived; event dumpsters will be ordered; street sweeping before and after will take place; event flyers will be printed; an ad in the Gardner News will be placed; two Edgerton employees will serve as public safety liaisons; and closed streets will be barricaded with no- parking signs posted.

The following streets will be closed to parking from noon June 15 through 9 a.m. June 19 on both sides of street:

1. East 5th St. from East McCarty St. to East Nelson St.

2. East McCarty St. from East 4th St. to East 5th St.

3. East Nelson St. from East 2nd St. to East 3rd St.

4. East Martin St. from East 3rd St. to East 4th St.

5. East 3rd St. from East Nelson to East Martin St.

6. East 4th St. from the alleyway one half block south of East Nelson St. to East Martin St.

7. East Hulett St. from East 4th St. to East 5th St.

8. East 3rd St. from the alleyway one half block south of East Hulett St. to East Nelson St.

A no-parking zone will also be enforced for the following streets:

1. East side of East 3rd St. from 56 Hwy south to the alleyway one half block south of East Hulett St.

2. West side of 5th St. from East Nelson St. to East Martin St.

3. North side of East Martin St. from East 5th St. to East 4th St.

4. North side of East Hulett St. from East 3rd St. to East 4th St. excluding the part of Hulett St. that will be completely closed.

The following streets will be completely closed with barricades placed in order to host the festival:

1. East 4th St. between Nelson and McCarty Streets from noon Thursday, June 15 to noon Sunday, June 18.

2. Nelson St. between East 3rd and East 4th Streets between 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15 and noon on Sunday, June 18.

3. East 4th St. between Nelson and south to and including the nearest alley that runs from East 4th to East 3rd St. behind the Edgerton Library between 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16 until noon on Sunday, June 18.

4. Nelson St. from West 8th to East 5th St. for the set-up and duration of the Saturday, June 17 parade from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Brittany Paddock, recreation coordinator, said the street closures were needed to ensure a successful and safe event.
