Spring Hill wins land dispute with Olathe over annexation

The Kansas Supreme Court ruled on Friday, July 1 that a 2006 agreement between the City of Olathe and the City of Spring Hill regarding land annexation is not legally binding. The City of Spring Hill and the City of Olathe entered into an agreement March 2006 to restrict their future growth by establishing boundaries for annexing land adjacent to the two cities.

City parks reviewed for improvements

Three city parks were looked at for needed improvements during a budget policy presentation at the Tuesday June 21 Gardner City Council meeting. Matt Wolff, finance director, presented the figures on Veterans Park, Stone Creek and Winwood Park as part of the 2023-2024 Budget Policy and said they hadn’t been updated in 20 years.

A group of local residents gathered together at Cornerstone Park Friday evening with signs and megaphones chanting and marching to Gardner City Hall protesting that day’s U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade through the court case ruling for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
